I believe the Green Party is a strong alternative to Reform and the next prime minister (possibly Zack Polanski) could reduce the reliance on Russian oil, gas & coal make the Russian war machine instead improve quality of life for Russian people through persuasion – mainly that their war will only lead to death and that an alternative route, improving the lives of Russians, is better and more stable – both for their government and people. We are interlinked and the vast majority of British people want peace for British and Russians, and for each to live happily as friends.
However, to achieve this I believe we must persuade the Russian we are serious about stopping their war, by not financing it. Unfortunately Nigel Farage (NF) lacks a mindful brain and looks, if he were to have the possibility, to increase reliance on Russian fossil fuel. Evidence of this is in part seen in acceptance of donations from fossil fuel lobbies, the Reform party have previously been found to have a Russian asset as the head of their Wales section, NF has also said the west is to blame for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
How we can prevent UK and allies from being reliant on Russian oil and prevent Russian violence?
Currently oil extracted from Russia is refined in China, Turkey, India to avoid being classified as Russian. This supplies Russian Military with money to purchase equipment to attack Ukraine, the border of Europe. Imports of refined oil from China have increased more than 20-fold since 2021. We need to stop purchasing Russian oil to stop furthering the war. Clearly oil and gas companies are getting around legislation to prevent their Russian fossil fuels being labelled accurately, so they can sell them to the UK and Europe and Russia can finance their war machine. The most logical way of avoiding this, which has side benefits of increasing clean energy jobs and meeting our COP obligations to reducing climate change, is adopting clean energy on a scale not seen before. Wind and solar are already the lowest cost forms of electricity production and implementing them requires a better uplifted mindset, one based in reason, in the numbers & in the care for levels of pollution in the environment. We can have a better society, we just need to make better, more moral and rationally reasoned decisions.
The Green Party are in a much improved mindset to deliver a move from fossil fuels and into clean jobs. The Green Party must commit to supporting Ukraine and preventing war through stopping Europe and allies from supporting a Russian war through buying their goods, particularly their fossil fuels. This is vital for peace and to reset relations into a more peaceful mindset.
